Tony Noms!
May. 10th, 2004 09:43 amThe Tony Award nominations have been announced.
Was the revival of Little Shop really that bad? You can usually just sneeze and get your revial nominated for Best Revival, but other than one acting nom, it's shut out.
Even without having seen any current B-way show, it's hard not to root for Kristin Chenoweth for best actress (although I'd imagine that she and Menzel will hurt each other by both being up as lead actresses).
And hey! Boy George, up for a Tony. Who knew?
EDIT:
aussie_nyc points out this article in the Times, worth a read to anyone who gives a damn about theatre.

Date: 2004-05-10 07:56 am (UTC)in light of the ny times article, I wonder how cynical the decision was. Assassins would have almost certainly taken Best Score, and given Wicked a run at Best Musical. So, voters with a vested interest in Wicked likely weren't sad to see Assassins get bumped to revival.
