The good and the bad
May. 31st, 2004 11:02 amThe Bad: Although we've got DSL working, it's slow as molasses on the short bus. I'm at a bit over 100bps, maybe. Which is better than dial-up, but not much. Now we need to work on wiring the house to run ethernet down to
shadesong's office.
The Good: I've got Jonatha Brooke cranked on the stereo.
The Bad: Dealing with work stuff (on a "holiday," although a quick glance at the comics section from today and yesterday reveals that only two or three strips acknowledge that). Sucks, but shit happens year round.
The Good: Am doing so while drinking coffee. Lots of coffee.
The Bad: It's raining.
The Good: It's a good birthday day, as both
prodigaldax and
metaphorge age another year in a day.
The Bad: The one book I want to find, The Midnight Tour, is the one Richard Laymon I can't find. Sucks, since I just finished re-reading the other two in the series, and want the conclusion (which I'd never read). Grr. Unpacking sucks.
The Good: I figured out how to work our Bizarre Garbage Disposal (it involves magnets. Seriously).
The Bad: The Mets are on a nasty losing streak (after breaking .500, even).
The Good: Freedom Force just gets more fun. I've finished the Nuclear Winter missions, and have played the first from the next set (the one with the annoying Rick Jones character and the bank robbers).
The Bad: It's still raining.
The Good: We're just about completely out of the old house now (minus two suitcases and a vacuum cleaner).
freyaskat,
glenn5,
volta, and
vidicon provided huge help on Saturday, and
magenta_girl freed up time on her schedule to clean the house on Sunday (anyone looking for a great housecleaning service in Atlanta or SC, contact her -- her rates are great, as is the service).
The bad: No way I'll have anything in next month's Bookslut. Moving and being offline for so long just killed my writing. First time in over a year. Sucks.
The Good: I'll probably have a column and about five reviews in the July one. And two of those are the next books by Alexander Irvine and China Miéville (both due out this summer).
The End: The End.

Date: 2004-06-03 08:02 am (UTC)Anyway, I just wanted to say that I found your book, The Midnight Tour, on Ebay (http://search.ebay.com/the-midnight-tour_W0QQsokeywordredirectZ1QQfromZR8). There're two copies for sale there right now, if you're interested.
Oh, and would you mind if I added you to my friends list?
