Gift updates and other stuff

At work today, so I've got a decent connection. Oh, the reason we went with BS DSL is that they tend to be easier on our billing department, but at this point, they've failed time and again, so they can go fuck themselves with a rusty chainsaw.
Since I've been offline so much, I never had a chance to mention two nifty sets of gifts. First,
alladinsane (whose help with the move can't be overstated) gave us very nifty housewarming presents: Four Rogue pint glasses (Rogue, for those who don't know, is my favorite American brewery), as well as two Miller tall glasses. This now means we actually have a decent shelf of beer glasses, finally! Thanks!
Second, because Elayna goes down to FLA early, we celebrated Father's Day last Saturday.
shadesong took Miss Kid to the new food store inside Domestic Instincts in Decatur, and Miss Kid chose smoked salmon, chocolate fudge-covered popcorn, silicon potholders, and a Le Creuset pie dish (no excuses for not making my own crusts anymore). Yay for kitchen goodness!
Other random things:
They've closed the Madstone. That sucks. Granted, the location was terrible, but losing it still sucks ass. The Arizona and Michigan ones closed as well (not sure if they were also located so far away from their client bases).
The only bad reviews from the "cream of the crop" reviewers for the new Harry Potter movie are from Rex Reed and Variety, which is a better recommendation for the movie than a 100% score would have been. See this movie.
We got no mail yesterday. That's the first time it's happened in ever. I'm assuming mail forwarding is a factor.
Finally, Celebrity Poker Showdown, Week 2 thoughts:
Woods was right. Experienced players got their ass handed to them by the worst player. Actually, the worst player won twice in a row now. Truly amazing.
That said, Mo was just entertaining as could be (and she's also lost a lot of weight, or at least traded it to Tim Busfield). And I do think that Danny got suckered a bit by Dule's lack of experience. That penultimate all-in wasn't a good move. Danny and James were both great to watch, though -- much better than some of the real players on the tour, even.
But, please, please, please, replace Dave Foley. Don't get me wrong -- the man is funny in most of his roles, and a damned fine comedian in general. But he's so hopelessly out of place. Bring back Pollak.
I'm intrigued by the teaser for next week. Two all-ins on the opening hand. Gotta love it. My money's on Norm McDonald being the best player next week, and (therefore) any of the other four winning.

Date: 2004-06-13 12:00 pm (UTC)It was in a Mall.
Now, ordinarily this might be good. But it is a smallish mall, and the theater itself was smallish. And less than a 15 minute drive away is a much much larger, much much more state of the art, and priced just the same Showcase Cinema.
Unbelievably enough, another theater has since opened in the same mall.
