New Bookslut is out. Complete with a very nice new site design.

Nifty features this month include interviews with Chuck Palahniuk, James Hynes, and Kage Baker. Yes, interviews with three of my favorites!

Also, since there was a slight delay while the new site design was being tweaked, I was able to recover from the move to throw together a quick hack-like Fear Factor column in which I mix old news and quickie reviews in lieu of any substantial writing. But hey, I manage two digs at Anne Rice. Go me!

As always, you can find [livejournal.com profile] lizlet's Hollywood Madam column (on Troy -- I'm pretty sure that a lot of you will get a kick out of it), [livejournal.com profile] hangingfire's latest Comicbookslut column (her take on Vertigo's latest couple of graphic novels), a review of Wil Wheaton's latest book, and all sorts of other fun stuff.

All in a new, easier-to-read format.

I loved Fight Club and Invisible Monsters but I think Palahniuk needs to learn some new tricks. His last one especially really felt like someone posturing in prose the way he thinks you expect him to be. I sorta started to feel this way with Choke, having these self-hating characters, but the most recent one really drove it home for me. I think he's got an amazing amount of talent, I hope he doesn't get zapped with Anne Rice's "sell-out" ray.
