belated Celebrity Poker Showdown stuff
Jul. 19th, 2004 11:04 amSpoiler cut below. Hey,
tsarinanic, you might want to read this one!
Because Jeff Gordon won! The first athlete to actually make the finals of any of the tourneys (although I thought that James Blake had a good shot in season 2).
Overall, a solid game. Angie Dickenson was just a blast to listen to. She made some horrible early bets (when you lose twice to folks with the same cards as you, it's a sign that you weren't kidding about playing the cards and not the players), but came on surprisingly strong later.
Penn and Kathy Griffin were hysterical. Gotta love Penn's post-game chat with Dave.
I have to admit, I was surprised at how Ron played. He just never seemed to get into the game until it was too late. Too tight when he shouldn't have been, but he didn't set himself up well enough to bluff pots his way. Plus, he had shitty cards.
Gordon himself was surprisingly relaxed -- tough, given the crowd he was in. He played solid poker, and if he had a little luck here and there, he also knew his fundamentals.
Next week: Arrested Development cast members! Yay!
And in two weeks: We get to cheer for anyone to beat Bobby Flay! Yay!
