Tuesday linkage
Aug. 10th, 2004 01:11 pmWhat's been making me happy recently (aside from
shadesong and Elayna, of course)? Playing Starcraft natively on OSX. I'd forgotten just how much fun this game is, and I hate booting into OS9 or running classic.

olliesmama is holding an LJ garage-sale.
theferrett has pointed out that there's at least one LJ in Esperanto. As someone who has always been intrigued by success and failure of the language of Jim DiGriz, I'm intrigued.
DC has a new Deadshot series in the works. This would normally be something to make me yawn. But the writer, Chris Gage, has made it clear that he's a huge fan of John Ostrander's interpretation of the character (and anyone who knows my comics tastes knows that I consider Ostrander's runs on Suicide Squad and The Spectre to be the best DC runs ever not involving Moore or Gaiman). So yeah, I'll give this one a shot.
Most folks have probably already seen this, but in case anyone is actually falling for the ball of hooey otherwise known as "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth," this site (link provided by
shawnj) is as good a debunking as I've seen.
The new Three Stooges DVDs? They're offering colorized versions, as noted by
dr_nebula. To be fair, they're also offering B&W on the discs, but why color them at all? B&W is they way they're meant to be seen.
(Aside -- if I ever make a huge hit movie, when I release it on DVD, there's be a Widescreen and a Fullscreen version on the disc, and when the one schmuck out there who doesn't understand crap about movies decides to play it on "Fullscreen," he'll have the entire middle of the movie covered by a big black bar containing the words, "YOU DON'T DESERVE TO SEE THIS MOVIE, YOU FUCKING PHILISTINE." And then the DVD player would melt.
The fact that my first huge hit movie could be a family film is a mild hurdle, I suppose.)
And I know I'm the last person on earth to see it, but the trailer for Team America is wonderful. If only Jonathan Frakes had realized that marionettes are still a viable tool for filmmaking.
Finally, Cartoon Network is developing a block of pre-school programming. And one of the shows will be about Krypto! I can only hope they'll keep it within current Superman Adventures/JLU continuity.
That's all. The next meetingcalls threatens.
