Wednesday Stuffs
Oct. 13th, 2004 10:03 amFirst,
shadesong is walking in Aids Walk Atlanta this weekend. You can sponsor her (and read more about the walk) over at this site. If you want to sponsor her for less than the $25 minimum the site accepts, let me know, and we can arrange paypal (although any Paypal payments won't get your name up on the sponsor site, we will list your name on the form we turn in).
Second, eleven days until the Wedding! Woot! That means that in eight days, I'll be in Momland, where comments about my weight are made as often as five times a minute! There's a reason to keep family in other time zones. Aside from that, I'm very psyched for the wedding, or at least the marriage aspect of things. Wearing a suit and stuff aren't quite as exciting.
Third, only eighteen days until Halloween! Yes, the only holiday on which it becomes socially acceptable to dress like an axe murderer. And this means that the next few weeks will see lots of scary movies on TV. Always a good thing.
Fourth, last night's game --wow! Yankees/Red Sox do make for a great pairing. Going from a near-perfect game to a runfest to a save by Rivera is classic.
Fifth, interesting sounding book title of the week: Permitted and Prohibited Desires: Mothers, Comics, and Censorship in Japan. Gets some interesting reviews, too.
Since
shadesong was asking -- Dodgeball, one of two Alan Tudyk movies to break $100 million this summer (yes, he really was King of the Multiplex this year), comes out on DVD December 7. That's just in time for X-mas, but too late for Hanukkah.
Other stuff: Looks like Furcal's finally in jail. Of course, if he'd had any other job, he'd have been in jail at least a week ago. I really hope he's in a cell block with transplanted Cubs, Mets, and Astros fans.
Oh, and finally, have another Incredibles preview. Man, I'm psyched. And having seen the "No Gut, No Glory" poster, I now need that phrase on a t-shirt.

Date: 2004-10-13 07:16 am (UTC)You're going to be in Momland. I'm going to be in MomDadGrandmaland. You get no sympathy from me, lover. I'm going to get the reverse sort of weight comments, especially from Grandma, who last saw me 40 pounds ago. Unintentional precipitous weight loss = teh suck. I'm just waiting to go below 90 so I can tell my neurologist that really, this is quite enough.
*kiss* Let's elope!

Date: 2004-10-13 08:26 am (UTC)That is always the way.
Correct someone else, and make a mistake of your own.

Date: 2004-10-13 08:25 am (UTC)I sit corrected.
It turns out it was funnier making the mistake.

Date: 2004-10-13 08:11 am (UTC)For some reasons families can't resist grabing any flaw and beating it to death. Then they look surprised after years of that kind of idiocy, you verbally beat them to death.
I'll rent Dodgeball. It looked to stupid too see for 9 bucks, but it should be amusing enough to see via Netflix.
I am stoked for the INcredibles. I was very up on everything Incredible, but I have been avoiding things now to keep my level of surprise high. As soon as the movie is over I'll head back to Pixar for more back story.
Sox vs. Y*nk**s
Date: 2004-10-13 08:16 am (UTC)And people claim baseball is dull.
Re: Sox vs. Y*nk**s
Date: 2004-10-14 10:42 am (UTC)Blasphemy. Game 2 was just as exciting. Even lesser teams tend to be exciting in the playoffs. Sox/Yanks, otoh, are one of those rivalries for the ages.
