Upcoming movies

I don't care what other folks think. I'm really looking forward to this movie. *Happy Sigh* (or *Happy Sai*). Cute assassins are wonderful. And Zod as Stick! Gotta love it.

I am decidedly not looking forward to this movie, a remake that just doesn't need to exist. That said, I'll probably see it. And maybe it'll be that rare remake (like DotD) that's worthwhile. It will, without a doubt, be better than anything that John Carpenter has done recently.

I will not, no matter how much my daughter begs, see this movie. Ice Cube deserves better.

I might have to give in and see this one to get out of the previous one. This one will probably reek as well, but it's hard for me to say no to any movie with the voices of David Spade, Joey Pants, and Dustin Hoffman.

I dreamed about Ice Cube last night. He was a new X-man and he teamed up with Kitty Pryde. I never did figure out what his power was.

He's Ice Cube! That's a power in and of itself! He can fight Leprechauns, kill Anacondas, and crack wise while making pot comedies! He'd be an awesome X-man, even without any official powers.

Everytime I see the Elektra preview, my first reaction is "A movie about Oedipus' daughter?" ... obviously we've had a few too many remakes of Greek tales of late. ;)

The only movie listed worth seeing is Elecktra. Remakes are tiring me out. They don't come close (exceptions: Sabrina, Oceans Eleven...feel free to list any others, but I can't think of any). S.W.A.T. at least poked fun at itself tho.
Dawn of the Dead? worse remake.
If H'wood needs ideas I have several and we all have friends/loved ones that have excellent writing skills.

See, what I liked about DotD is that it didn't try to tread the ground that the original walked on. I'd rather have that than, say, Psycho, anyday.

And Sabrina is a remake that I absolutely put into the "didn't work" category. Ugg. Loved OE, as well as Chicago (sort of a remake of Roxt Hart) and maybe a handful of others.

Heh -- yeah, I saw your post about the language thing.

As I pointed out to shadesong when she protested the fact that Garner isn't Greek, in the movies, she's not "Elektra Natchios," but "Elektra Nachos" and is now Mexican (or Tex-Mex, actually). Thus the difference.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

I'm game for Elektra, but am curious how it fits time-line-wise vs the Daredevil movie. Is she back from the dead? Or is she a bad ass before Kingpin kills her father? Or does it happen in the middle?

From what little I've read, it's post DD-movie. Which would go to explain Ben Afflec's alleged cameo in the flick.

I also heard something about The Hand, which would explain how it could be post-movie.

I'm not totally offended at the idea of XXX2. Dumb, fun action movies are fine by me (even if I only see a handful of them).

AoP13 has already been remade by Carpenter. Take away the dire music, and Ghosts of Mars would have been good.

Actually, I kinda liked the GoM music. I blame that failure on his editing -- there was a much better movie hiding in there (although that wouldn't have been the case if Courtney Love had stuck with the lead role).
