Club Dread and other Friday notes
Dec. 31st, 2004 06:15 amWatched the other film I'd rented -- Club Dread -- last night. It was a lot better than RE:A, although not quite as good as the hype suggested. Basically, it's a fun mix of slasher flick and teen sex comedy, but unlike other horror parodies/comedies, this one keeps the slasher side of things pretty serious. Some nifty stuff, including Bill Paxton stealing tons of scenes as a bitter ex-70s star who was eclipsed by Jimmy Buffett (Paxton's character calls him a "son of a son of a bitch," probably my favorite line), and lots of topless Jordan Ladd. The Broken Lizard troupe do a pretty good job, although they're noticeably weaker as actors than the rest of the cast. Fortunately, doing a one-note shtick works okay in this sort of movie.
For those following the Bookcrossing missing programmer situation, they've found Dan Clune's body. :-(
Coming Soon is reporting that DodgeBall 2 will happen! Seeing as the first film was one of my favorite films of the year, I'm very psyched.
shadesong gets back into town today, and Elayna gets back in two days. This is the last morning I can play Duke Nukem at full volume. :-)
No work today. Yay!
Finally, it's the last day of the year. Here's hoping that all of you, wherever you are, have a safe and wonderful New Year.
