Sean Connery is writing an autobiography!

I can only hope it's as entertaining as his SNL appearances. He clearly learned all about the Penis Mightier there.

The LA Times has a report on a guy who got so sick of the Internet's spam/spyware/etc that he's just gone offline.

Newsarama has a great interview with Brad Meltzer about Identity Crisis (spoilers aplenty). I've been a fan of Brad's for years, and like him, I grew up reading the Satellite League era of the JLA. His take on the characters resonated very well with me. (And yes, Matt Brady apparently can't spell "Deathstroke.")

The trailer for Cursed -- the werewolf film written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Wes Craven -- is finally up (that link is directly to the QT movie, so don't click if you're at work or on a slow connection). Looks fun. The trend in werewolf movies recently -- even ones that are full immersed in the horror genre (like the recent Kate Beckensale flicks) is to treat lycanthopy purely as a psuedo-scientific disease. I like seeing a movie that pulls it back to the mystical side.

Oh, who am I kidding? I like seeing Christina Ricci.

And next to this clip (also a direct link to a Quicktime file) from the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, well, anything would look good. I mean anything. Including one of those aforementioned Kate Beckinsale flicks.

We had a nice lazy MLK weekend (still ongoing, of course). [livejournal.com profile] shadesong and I watched about nine episodes of Popular, which I'm enjoying more and more. It's a sharp, subversive show, which is probably why it was yanked after two seasons (if it had been on Fox, it would have been pulled after one, of course).

Other than that, we just hung around, cleaning and filing stuff, playing board games with Elayna (The Series of Unfortunate Events game is still her game of choice), watched my Jets lose, and read. Work will be hellish tomorrow. I could try to weed through some of the email that's come in over the holiday weekend, but I'm not giving up what little relaxation time we get.

Didn't know I was a werewolf girl

Did you see Dog Soldiers and what did you think of it?

Popular was a great show. Highly underappreciated.

That story about the person going off line is interesting, On the one hand, the decision sounds reasonable, and on the other, it sounds rather reactionary, I find it troublesome that the US government is being called into the issue of spyware, since it appears that the problem is the fault of private industry. It is to M$'s business advantage to perpetuate the very problems its own shoddy workmanship (deliberately?) causes.

FWIW, I use Fedora Cores 2 and 3 almost exclusively. I only use M$ when circumstances demand it, and there is no other option (as in when a remote server requires the user to use ActiveX controls).

Alternately, anyone sick of spyware/adware/virus/trojan/other crap could always just switch to Mac. = )

Everytime we watch it in groups there's a moment of silence for the brave and determined Spoon and his very impressive last stand in the kitchen. It's the only 'horror' movie I've ever owned that I watch repeatedly. The other is 'Nightbreed'.

Same with me. I use IE only on a small Win2k partition, and, except for IE, use open source applications which are fully compatible with their Linux counterparts. To me, this means that there is at least SOME accountability for the product. If one person fixes the problem, it benefits everyone, Name a corporate vendor in the M$-verse that does that!

It would be hard for me to switch to the Mac OS, since I have PC hardware, but with the announcement of the new Mini Mac (http://www.livejournal.com/users/yendi/647104.html), it seems like a financially feasable option.

Thanks of the Cursed trailer. Looks about as good as any of the SCREAM films... which isn't saying much, but honestly... I do enjoy them, so I'll probably if anything enjoy these too. In the end the full on fucked up concept of SCREAM and how LARGE it really was completely ruled... so maybe this will be too.

Especially with that line? The only way to stop the curse is to kill the person who started it... and we have no clue who that is. Also it looks like all the majors become werewolves at some point. Huh? This could be as awesome as like The Howling.

Hey, was that Shannon Elizabeth who got eaten at the very beginning of the film? I mean, given her name recognition I seriously doubt it but it totally looks like her.
