Once again, it's Wonderfalls day! We ordered ours last night. You should order yours, too. Really. It's damned good.

I didn't realize it until today, but Deborah Lipstadt's book, History on Trial : My Day in Court with David Irving was released today as well. Deborah is an Emory professor and expert on the Holocaust who was sued in the UK by David Irving, a "Holocaust Denier," which here is a term used to mean "scum-sucking asshole." There's a good page here detailing the trial. Deborah is an incredibly nifty and intelligent person. Irving is neither nifty nor a person (by any definition I'd use), and any intelligence he has is pretty much tied up in the service of evil. Deborah won the trial, of course, but Irving and his hateful band of assholes continue to publish their bullshit, so books like Deborah's are vital.

Oh wow, Emory flashback. I remember that being in "The Wheel" a lot. She's such an amazing lady, and he's just....there's are really no words to describe what kind of horrible person he is.

I'm adding that book to my amazon wishlist.

oh, wow, I loved her first book on holocaust denial, and the article on the case in Harpers. She came to speak at our school. She was also pictured in the viewbook I wore out dreaming of going to undergrad at Emory. can't wait to see her book.

BELAY THAT ORDER!

My copy of Wonderfalls winged its way across the Atlantic last week for some reason but it's all good. Thanks for the recommendation.

I agree about the site (although there are places where their proof reading is awful, including in the evidence of their own experts) but the title of the book is ironic, given that she declined to give any evidence or be cross-examined herself.
