One of the first stories read for my Fiction Writing class (yeah I know I'm lame, it's only for the student loans that I go) was a story on how it fucking sucks to work there (and how the owner was an asshole and his daughter was a nasty spoiled bitch)
Those ex-workers can be bitter.
Contrasted to those of us that worked at http://www.dreamhavenbooks.com that would move in if we could.
Heh. Only problem with the store (last I recall, at least) is that the main branch wasn't air-conditioned. Not fun in the summertime. But worth it, anyway.
is now. I went in last week for the first time since they finished the revamp, and holy god is it different. I mean, same basic vibe, but *organized*. for strand, anyway. you can find the bookshelves. they can find the books. they have their holdings *catalogued*. freaky weird. I feel like a bad person for liking it way better now.
Yeah, I'm not allowed in there (or other bookstores, for that matter) without having paid my rent and still maintaining a three-digit balance in my checking account. Even then it's still quite dangerous.
