I get to teach a class this afternoon because two other people messed up their schedules. Grr. I'm so tempted to walk in and say, "I'm not even supposed to be here today."

No hot water last night, as the gas folks had futzed with the water heater. Upon them fixing it, it turns out that there's a small leaky valve (not anything that poses an immediate threat, but still something that needs replacing).

KoL update: Working on getting the appropriate sets of clothing on the Island. Have gotten the clothing needed for the mountaintop, although none of the drops there have done me a lot of good. I've now made back the money I invested in my store and then some (thanks to papaya sales), and I'm working on the Feng Shui quest. Quick question for the experts -- what's so special about the herb brownies I just made? According to the marketplace report at coldfront, they're going for over 3000 meat.

We got our massive gift-certificate-funded package from Amazon yesterday. I now own Wonderfalls and the DC Comics Encyclopedia, amongst other things. The latter has a few flaws in terms of missing folks, but is still a joy to browse through. Truly a beautiful volume. And Wonderfalls is Wonderfalls. :-)

Some good and mixed news on the work front that I'm hoping I'll be able to talk about soon. More on that when the news finally hits.

Off to the races.

Have gotten the clothing needed for the mountaintop, although none of the drops there have done me a lot of good.

The main reason for spending turns up there is to gain meat. Best raw meat/turn around, though not the best place to farm goodies.

I keep misreading market trends... one week I can make almost a million in profit, then invest it all in the wrong thing and take a month to earn back half that. Well, at least I'm not day-trading with my own money. ;p

How much of a spoiler do you want?

I haven't really done much in the way of buy-low/sell-high, just sticking with selling all the papayas and other high-market stuff I've encountered.

You and me and everyone else interested in making meat. :) But the real money is in exploiting bugs, or failing that, playing the market. There's only so much game content, and I've now seen all of it except for the adventures that give up the ultra-rare items, so in between waiting for new stuff to be added, the 'fun' for me is in learning how the social aspects of the game work. I may start playing the PvP game, as well, as an extension of that... not sure. I'm not very good at that sort of gameplay, so it's not very fun for me.

I think I know what the spoiler is, if it involves trophies.

Ah, okay, well that's your explanation: the trophy drastically increased demand for herb brownies (420 is a lot to have of any item, especially one consisting of 2 or more components).

Herbs are really common, so much so that you'll often find people using them as loss-leads for their stores (at 10 meat per, rather than their auto-sell price of 30 meat), but Uncle Jick's Brownie Mix is much less so (this has always been the case, but no one really wanted it before, so it had been pretty cheap). High demand and low supply = high prices.

(but no one would answer in general chat)

What do I have to do to correctly guess the number Gorgonzola wants?

(if it's a spoiler, well never mind)

Is this one of the training things, for the League of Chef-Magi?
From: [identity profile] stress-rash.livejournal.com
yes, it is for pastamancers. I've spent over twenty adventures and each time I say the same damned thing "42" (har har) which is wrong. I used a can o magickalness, some moxie weed (can't remember what that's called) and still the same damned answer "42"

BLAH!!

as dumb as that makes me feel
