Current item of nostalgia: Time Killers
Feb. 10th, 2005 03:56 pmUnlike almost everyone else on the planet, my favorite fighting game of all time isn't from the Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter, or Mortal Kombat series, or from the more recent successes like Tekken, Soul Edge/Calibur, etc. Nor is it one of the 128 King of Fighters variations. No, my favorite fighting game, one that I played aplenty back when Emory had it in the arcade, was Time Killers. Your characters ranged from a punk with a chainsaw to a medieval knight to a caveman with a stone axe. What makes it special, though, is that you could chop off the other player's arms and head. Chopping off the head ended the match, of course, but if your arms got chopped off, you could still kick and head butt. And the limbs stayed on the ground. You could also stun your opponent, and if you timed things correctly, you could then pull off a super-move that would sever all four limbs and decapitate them. Although this was a lot more cartoonish than the MK games.
Man, they don't make games like that anymore. You'd have to play it to understand it. The thrill of having your armless caveman headbutt and kick a samurai to death is just unmatched.

Of course, I often misplace my arcade machines after I've bought them, so while I own it I may not be able to find it. Thank god for backups, eh?
