Unlike almost everyone else on the planet, my favorite fighting game of all time isn't from the Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter, or Mortal Kombat series, or from the more recent successes like Tekken, Soul Edge/Calibur, etc. Nor is it one of the 128 King of Fighters variations. No, my favorite fighting game, one that I played aplenty back when Emory had it in the arcade, was Time Killers. Your characters ranged from a punk with a chainsaw to a medieval knight to a caveman with a stone axe. What makes it special, though, is that you could chop off the other player's arms and head. Chopping off the head ended the match, of course, but if your arms got chopped off, you could still kick and head butt. And the limbs stayed on the ground. You could also stun your opponent, and if you timed things correctly, you could then pull off a super-move that would sever all four limbs and decapitate them. Although this was a lot more cartoonish than the MK games.

Man, they don't make games like that anymore. You'd have to play it to understand it. The thrill of having your armless caveman headbutt and kick a samurai to death is just unmatched.

Have you ever played Time Splitters2 (http://www.netjak.com/Reviews/xbox/ts2x.htm)? The first time I played the game and realized I was wearing a leisure suit and mirror shades, I wanted to throw myself out a window ;)

Fun game, though, and now that I think about it -- the creators quite ripped Time Killers, and how.

That game is in the arcade by the dollar theater here in Fayetteville. Most of the games there are from arounf 1992, with a few new ones here and there.

Man, I was just thinking about that the other day, trying to find an emulation (http://caesar.logiqx.com/html/games/timekill.shtml).

But remember, you can only download if you own the game.

Of course, I often misplace my arcade machines after I've bought them, so while I own it I may not be able to find it. Thank god for backups, eh?
