For the first time in nearly two weeks, I'm back in the office! Elayna's still sick, but Shadesong is staying with her today. Her temp's down about a degree and a half from yesterday morning, so I'm hoping that bodes well for the rest of the week.

Next three days are all about the conference we're running. Excitement city. Except, y'know, not. But hey, busy.

Currently reading Once More With Footnotes, the NESFA collection of Pterry ephemera. Some nifty stuff, including his first published short story (at 13, the bastard).

Just finished Keith R.A. Decandido's Dragon Precinct, which was cheese, but really fun cheese. [livejournal.com profile] morenasangre and [livejournal.com profile] farren would definitely get a kick out of it.

TV-wise, we finally watched the pilot of Medium last week, and we're now Tivoing it regularly. Surprisingly fun. We also caught up on this week's Malcolm in the Middle and the latest Adult Swim show, Robot Chicken, as well as a Venture Brothers we'd missed.

We also caught the latest JLU the night before, which just keeps getting better and better. Waller, Eiling, the core team, Doomsday. People actually dying, characters growing. I really like this show.

Today, our Westfield order arrives. Remember the old days, before the net allowed us to track every package every inch of the way, and there were such things as surprises? Yeah, fuck the old days. I want my damned comics.

A couple of links:

First, Microsoft warns us of the dangers of 133t5p33k. And, for those who like random lists like the videogame one I linked to yesterday, check out MobilePC's Top 100 gadgets of all-time. (Both links ganked from [livejournal.com profile] clontzman).

Finally, [livejournal.com profile] kizlj links to this article in the Washington Post and has more to say about it here. As another god-awful speller who relies on spellcheck way too much, I know the feeling all too well.

Dragon Precinct was definitely enjoyable cheese. It had the requisite one clever idea in its take on adventuring parties vs. local police and was craftsmanlike in structure and pacing. I had a good time reading it as well. :)

Don't be. I saw it; it was much less horrible than I thought it would be.

Once More With Footnotes

Oh, and I've decided to steal that for the title of my LJ!
