Learning to speak cat

For the most part, I don't worry about what ever meow Jack or Max utter means. I figure that if they need food, they make it clear, and if they just start "talking" to us, it's more fun to fill in the blanks ourselves, anyway.

That said, I think I need to do a better job of identifying the "meow" that Jack uses that apparently means, "Hey, yendi, guess what? I'm going to leap off the floor and land with all of my weight on one paw, right on your crotch!"

Yeah, learning to recognize that particular warning would be nice.

Jack's now just peacefully resting vertically on my gut and licking my chin. He does not seem overly sympathetic to my pain.

our cat does that.. he aims for your bladder, especially in the morning at 5:30 when he's hungry.

While I'm not overly fond of cat-stepping-on-bladder as a wake-up call, I do find it preferable to cat purring and kneading with sharp sharp claws on a nice warm pliable set of breasts.

OTOH, nothing gets my pores quite as squeaky-clean as a cat-tongue facial.

I can't explain how, but I have come to know (and fear) the sound that means, "Here I come to trample your breasts and any other sensitive tummy bits I can find." I think it's just a function of having lived with my kitty for over five years now.
The problem with learning to speak cat is that all cats don't speak the same cat. It must be a dialect thing. I speak Yasha. If and when another cat enters my life, I will have to start again from scratch.
My breasts fear that day.

Good point. Each cat has its own dialect. No wonder cats always fight - they can never understand one another. :-)
