Really shitty day for the Jets yesterday. Okay, I knew we'd lose Jordan, but I really had hoped that we'd keep Ferguson. And we failed to land any of the free agents that were supposedly at the top of the list -- Mason's at Baltimore, Williams is with the Vikings, and Jennings is a Niner, and Houshmandzadeh is off the market. And we're still likely as not to lose McKenzie.

Yeah, I follow the hot-stove events in MLB and NFL as much as I follow the seasons, it seems.

in MLB, the Veteran's Committee has decided that Gil Hodges and Ron Santo don't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. I'm marginal on those decisions, but it's frustrating to see the too-little-too-late decision to revamp the committee into a draconian denial machine after they let people like Bill Mazeroski (who deserves to be in the HoF about as much as Bucky Dent) and (shudder) Phil Rizutto into the HoF, forever preventing HoF membership from having any actual meaning.

And hey, a company wants to buy the entire NHL for $3.5 Billion. Not sure it's worth it anymore.

Well, I'm an Eagles fan and we're supposed to be losing Trotter to the freaking Chiefs. I'll be ranting if they don't have Westy signed ASAP.

As for the NHL... making it a monopoly like that with some contraction may make the NHL profitable again. All they need to do is admit that hockey is not a national sport in the USA, market it to the people who are really interested in it (people who reside in the NE, Midwest, Canada mostly). I'd just be happy now to just see the Stanley Cup again.
