In slighter better news, Stephen King (you know, they guy who retired) is writing a pulp crime novel for the new Hard Case Crime series of retro paperbacks. His novel is called The Colorado Kid, and in spite of the title, it's set in Maine (of course). In spite of my snark, I'm actually kind of psyched about it, as I adore the old pulps, and King's got a good writing style for them.

Well, he didn't exactly retire, he said his quote on that was taken out of context. He said he was asked after pumping out the last 3 Dark Tower books so quickly what he planned to do next, and he said something along the lines of, "Nothing for a long time" and the reporter took that to mean retirement.

But he could have said he was retiring and changed his mind. People are allowed to do that. ;)

King does seem to gravitate to the older pulpy style, so it might not be too bad.

My interpretation was that he was retiring from *publishing,* but would continue to write.

That liar ;)
