Speaking of TV
Mar. 14th, 2005 08:56 amLast night's Deadwood. Wow.
I mean, wow.
Lots of moments that made me laugh out loud, including the one (paraphrasing since I can't remember the character's name) that went "Either Al's found god, or Millie's just stuck her thumb up his ass again." Ditto Trixie's blowjob offer to And Sol's medicine-induced "I like saying Cocksucker" line was great.
As was his more serious rant to Bullock, which Sam needed to hear.
And Al was just great. I need a fucking transcript of all his speeches.
As for plot moments, I'm enjoying the moral greying of Bullock's character. I don't want the show to devolve into a soap opera, but they've kept it from going there so far.
I adore Joanie, but I'm sorry, there's no way in fucking hell that I'm letting the Borg Queen be in charge of the hookers. There are certain parts of the body that one never wants assimilated.
Sol and Utter had some great moments -- Utter's transference of his sidekick/hero-worship from Hickcok to Bullock looks to be complete. And Jane just steals every scene she's in.
I also like the way Dan Dority's character is evolving. He's got to die at some point -- he's killed nearly more people than anyone else on the show, and is too rash for Al to trust for too long. But his loyalty and emotions are turning him into a much more fascinating character than he was at the beginning of season 1, when he was just another flunky.
And I think Slippery Dan has now learned that if you get your best friend killed by daring him to wear your jacket and pee on something, karma will come back and stab you with an antler.
