Goddamn rain. This campus has no decent drainage at all. Hence, I'm soaked up to my knees. I do have spare socks at the office, thankfully, but no spare sneakers to go with them, or spare pants (emergency pants!). And I've got a 9:00 meeting. So I'm a bit pissier than usual.

Which doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the day off yesterday -- read three magazines, the NY Times, and the Grafton novel. Ate lunch with Shadesong at Taqueria Del Sol Relaxed.

But today, I'm soaking fucking wet.

And the first thing I see is that the new Dr. Who has quit after one season because he doesn't want to be "typecast." Guess what, Christopher? You're now typecast as the British David Caruso. I'm sure a second-rate spin-off of a second-rate show will come along in ten years and resuscitate your career, too.

Speaking of pathetic things, the MPAA is sending cease-and-desists to fanfic sites over the use of the rating system. Guess Glickman really is filling Valenti's shoes.

Speaking of organizations with copyright stances that are in direct opposition to mine, the RIAA has a whole bunch of rationalizations for their case against Grokster, and Mark Cuban takes 'em to task.

Speaking of snarkily attacking groups of people with their collective heads up their collective asses, Scientific American nicely nails the ID movement, politicians like De Lay, and mainstream journalists.

Finally, for those who want something happy and less bitchy, Newsarama has a nice interview with the producer of the new Krypto series. Yes, we'll see Lex Luthor's iguana on the show!

Now, I'm going to see if I can find a way to dry off these pants.

Man, I used to chow on the Memphis and Brisket tacos at the one on Howell Mill back when I worked over there...
