I'm reading Gaudeamus, by John Barnes, featuring both John and his ex-wife, Kara Dalkey, as major characters. I'm halfway through it, and I can't begin to talk about how much I'm enjoying it. It's a spy/sci-fi novel with metafiction elements. Sort of like what you'd expect if Kurt Vonnegut and Robert Heinlein had a kid. The title refers to a webcomic, a drug, a secret military project, and all sorts of other stuff. And if Barnes really makes coffee the way he describes in this book, he's my hero. It's not (so far) a part of either of his two universes (the Giraut or the Meme Wars books), although we do find out the origin of the name "One True." Just quite nifty.
Watched the latest Mythbusters last night, which was fun, as well as the Terri Schiavo South Park, which was also fun (even if it was too lenient on a few folks).
Elayna's spring break starts today. A half-day today, and a teacher's workday on the 11th, ensure that those parent who, y'know, have jobs are just SOL. Not a fan of the Dekalb school board.
*sigh* My email inbox is over 500 messages. I so wish that were a joke, dammit.
One final April Fool's article (if it's not, the timing is perfect), from the New York Times; Segway Polo: "It's similar to real polo," Mr. Ko said, "but without the manure."
