Only a few of you might already know this, but today is the debut of SMRT-TV.Com, a new webzine dedicated to "overthinking the idiot box." And I'm one of the overthinkers! I'll be writing the animation column for them, which you can find (along with all the other great debut columns, the forums, interviews, etc) by clicking on the SMRT-TV logo:

Major props to editor-in-chief [livejournal.com profile] lizlet, who probably hasn't slept in weeks.

I'll have to check it out a bit more when I have time (i.e. later this week).

Hey-- they don't link to TVPicks.net, but they do link to TV Gal? They can't be all that smart . . . ;-p

Good column. Spot on. :)

I miss waking up on Saturdays rushing to take over the television, though. Ritual has a lot of attraction.

Good article. Your discussion of bad cartoons brought to mind the most truly heinous cartoon I remember from my youth: The Mighty Hercules (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0271917/). Even as a child I was laughing at how bad it was. Didn't keep me from watching though.

I'd forgotten about the Herculoids. It wasn't bad enough to etch itself in my memory the way The Mighty Hercules did. ;) Oh, and the theme song always stuck in my head. It was the only "quality" thing about the show, and I use the term loosely. Listen to it here (http://www.melaman2.com/cartoons/singles/m-herc.html) if you want to trigger latent brain cells. I Actually it is pretty bad, but compared to the rest of the show...
