I want to someday open a nice Jewish/Irish restaurant, two cuisines that don't get nearly enough hype.

Of course, I'd call it Finn MacKugel. :-)

Somehow it just seems unnatural though.

Kind of like thai and french I wouldn't think they would mix.

I'd compete with a fast food chain: Plenty O'Blintz's.

I guess Jewish Soul Food (Nacho Mama) isn't your thing?

Still.... there are latkes, and boxtys, and they aren't too far apart... maybe I need to look at this some more...

Good luck getting the Irish to give up leaven (and thus, beer) during Pesach, though.

There was a Jewish-Italian restaurant in St. Louis called "Joowappi's"...

Unnatural? Why, nothing would seem more natural than such a restaurant serving latkes!

I have a really nice Irish cookbook and my share of nice Jewish cookbooks.

Since I have the managment and culinary background, how about you come up with the money and you get 75% prestige.

Till I get so big, someone gives me money and wants to be a silent partner. ;)

we need more random fusion restaurants

There's a cuban / irish bar in Prague called O'Che's, which I thought was hilarious. Sadly the fusion only seemed to extend to the decor, but still.

Sadly neither really - more "pub grub" - burgers, the ubiquitous stews you get in Czech republic, generic "curry" type things. Still, it was cosy. And they served Guiness.

Athens used to have a kosher Chinese restaurant called Chow Goldstein's.

Not as strange as it sounds. New York Jews have always been big fans of Chinese restaurants.
