Ren Faire fun
Apr. 17th, 2005 12:28 pmWe went to the opening day of the GA Ren Faire yesterday, as
shadesong needed to meet up with
dark_blade, and
dark_blade's other bridesmaids to purchase dresses. Of course, we also enjoyed the Faire as a whole. Which meant, of course, lots of unhealthy food (mmm, pork loin on a stick), and getting to see the Ded Bob Show for the first time in years!
Elayna, of course, had the most fun, going on a zillion rides (including the puketastic barrel ride four times), as well as hitting the Birds of Prey show.
But the big event for her was going on the Pirate Assault Catapult. This was a new one at the GA Fest. Basically, they strap a kid (adults up to 200 lbs can do it as well, but there's no option for us really fat folk) into a bungie harness, and bounce the kid off a trampoline, where the kid then goes bouncing thirty feet into the air for three minutes. It's truly insane, and my daughter insists on doing it twice next time.
A fun time was had by all, as was mild sunburn, hella nasty traffic, and major exhaustion afterwards.
After getting home and getting the now-cranky kid to bed, we read the latest Westfield shipment, and after
shadesong and
docorion headed out, I finally caught this week's episode of Deadwood, which gave me much pity for Bullock's horse and Joanie's whores.
Today, we just dropped
docorion off at the MARTA station, and I'm now attempting to catch up on my websurfing. And of course, the headline at CNN.com is Cardinals prepare for Conclave, which led me to wonder: Isn't that usually in October? And who's the guest of honor, anyway?
