While at Toys "Backward R" Us this weekend, I finally bit the bullet and purchased another copy of my long-lost FInal Fantasy Tactics.

Spent many hours playing it (I'm one mission away from the end of Chapter 1), and it's still as good as I remember.

Aside from the occasionally annoying AI on the guest characters (lost on the Slums of Dorter the first time, not only because I hadn't leveled enough, but because Delita and Algus wasted time running away and using potions after Ramza was dead), it's the most fun strategy game I can recall.

That doesn't, of course, reduce my love of Nectaris at all, but FFT has leveling, job classes, and the ability to go on side quests and hit random encounters to level. Just so damned good (now if only I could bring myself to like any other FF entry in the PS/PS2 era).

The only thing I remember about FF Tactics is there was one particular track of music in it that I LOVED. And truthfully, that's all I can remember. Which is sad considering my love of all games Final Fantasy.

Agreed - the Final Fantasy series has altogether some of the best music put to video games. Even back when they were all midi format, it was still better than just about any other (except for Act Raiser - that game had AWESOME music)

I think the new battle system is what taints all the new FF titles, as well as the new leveling system. FF pretty much lost it's edge (with me) at 9 (8 sucked and 10 just had too much change).

If your big into RPG's however, chrono trigger has a PS port, so you can play chrono trigger.

I lurve that game to death. Desperately need an emulated copy, since I do not have a PS One anymore.

So many hours spent on that game. So many hours yet to spend!

I totally envy you right now.

This is true.

But I do not have a PS2, either. Stuck with Xbox only.
