For the six people who don't already own it, George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones is being re-issued at a bargain price of $3.99. That's an average of less than a halfpenny a page.

(And no, I still haven't read it, nor do I plan to until he finishes the series, but everyone I know who has read it treats it like the literary merger of crack and fine caviar).

I started reading it and while it was kinda slow I started to get into it until they started killing the wolves and couldn't cope.

Eh. I read it.

And didn't give half a damn.

But you know... I don't think he's hit ahigh point since he gave us the Great and Powerful Turtle.

Yep, the first wildcard books were impressive.

I don't quite get your reticence on not reading series until they are finished.

I might understand it in regards to authors who suck at coming out with timely novels or finishing series, but Martin always struck me as being reliable.

That said, I finished the first novel in that series and was unimpressed, so I never picked up the next one.

But the war! The war, man! Wasn't it brilliant? Tyrion rocked the cabash! If he was real, I would totally be his friend.

Maybe I just need to get out more.

Hmmm, perhaps I missed the casbah.

Perhaps I should re-read it.

Then again, it could have been at the end of the second book...but anyway, that's besides the point. Somewhere Tyrion rocks and rules. And Jamie becomes an awesome character.
