Sam'd be right there kneeling on the guy too!
puh-lease.
litch posted that link earlier saying "another reason not to shop at WAL*MART".
I beg to differ. It's another reason not to STEAL (from WAL*MART).
I'm not saying what they did was right, but blaming WAL*MART?
she-it. don't even.
Given that A) whether he stole is still up in the air, and B) he was killed for allegedly stealing about $200 worth of stuff, I just can't agree. There's a reason that we have a system in place, and they decided not to follow it.
I'm assuming it wasn't store policy, but properly training employees (and note that this was a collective fuck-up by a number of employees) is most definitely the responsibility of the chain.
Why is it that when you give someone a small bit of power, he turns into an asshole? I dislike security guards for that reason and that reason alone. It always attracts the losers who want to be cops but are too corrupt.
And seriously, they could have taken him inside the store. That's what all other stores would have done - locked him in an office with them. It's not that hard, or scary.

At least, with the RCMP if you want the job for any sort of power, they don't give it to you. I don't know how it works in the States, though.
