Thursday stuff
Aug. 18th, 2005 09:04 amEntire server's down. Grr. Great way to kick a morning off.
Last night's gaming with Miss Kid: Uno and Parcheesi. She won both. :-/
(Oh, and looking at the comments on Parcheesi at Amazon, people are such fucking whiners. The "cheap" plastic animals are part of what attracted Elayna to this edition, and since nothing at all has changed about the actual fucking strategy or gameplay, who cares if the game is now less of a display piece (especially since it's also a lot more affordable). I love nice sets, whether chess, cards, or otherwise, but that doesn't affect how the game itself is played.)
After bedtime,
shadesong and I caught the second episode of Slings and Arrows on Sundance. If you're not watching this, you're missing out (or you're Canadian, and caught it two years ago). So damned funny, and so brilliantly acted. And it has Rachel McAdams. *sigh* And the lead male from Due South, for those who might care about such things. Highly recommended. And Mark McKinney (who co-wrote it), for the Kids in the Hall fans.
Also caught the latest Surreal Life (the motorcross/slumber party one). It seems clear that both Omarosa and Canseco recognized the potential for this show to allow the to rehab their images, and are seizing the opportunity wonderfully. Not so much for a certain ex-supermodel. Caught up on one Stella (so we're only a week behind), as well.
Oh, and unless Tivo's lying to me, next week brings us three episodes of House!
Finally, in the category of "things I should have posted about weeks ago,"
ninjakitten has finally started her webcomic! You can read Killer Cucumber every Tuesday and Thursday (well, you can read it every day, but that's when new strips go up). Keep reading it and encouraging her, so we can finally meet the rest of the folks on the cast page.

Date: 2005-08-18 01:45 pm (UTC)I'm just hoping Sundance will carry the second season in relatively short order instead of waiting two years after it is aired in Canada (like they did with the first season).
Now, if my cable system would just work consistently enough to catch it regularly.

Date: 2005-08-19 02:02 pm (UTC)I had no idea there was a second season! I'm definitely writing Sundance a letter telling them how much I love the show, then.

Date: 2005-08-19 07:04 pm (UTC)First season focuses on Hamlet.
Second season on a production of Macbeth.
Third season on King Lear.
And, then, I suspect, we'll get a DVD release of the complete series.

Date: 2005-08-18 02:13 pm (UTC)And if people don't like that parcheesi set, why don't they just go buy a different one? I mean, if they wanted a showpiece, I'm sure someone out there would be happy to oblige them in the walletectomy...

Date: 2005-08-19 02:06 pm (UTC)And yeah, there's a whole ebay market for the high-end parchessi aficionado. Personally, there are better ways to spend tons of money, like on food. And DVDs.
