Friday stuff
Aug. 19th, 2005 09:06 amWe ate at Melting Pot last night with
felisdemens and
mightysemprini, and had quite a wonderful time. And I'm still full. Elayna ate twelve shrimp, as well as some bread, apples, and some dessert (she raved about the graham-cracker covered marshmallow dipped in the dark chocolate). Me, I just gorged myself on the cheese, salmon, steak, mushroom salad, and dessert. They don't starve you there.
The evening was quite fun. Elayna invented Ham Jenga, and later created a Ham Jenga house (basically Ham Jenga with a piece of radicchio stuck in the middle as a chimney). Our waiter was one of those waiters who is probably awful under most circumstances, but had the perfect personality for our table. Much fun was had.
Since we got back after her bedtime, needless to say, no gaming with Miss Kid last night. Surprisingly, she was more awake this morning than she's been the last few days. Not that I want her getting to bed late often, but she's handling it well.
In other news, I won a prize pack yesterday from Volition.com. Movie prize packs are normally a good thing. I've got my swag drawer that includes shirts and hats from movies like The Interpreter, Gothika, etc., and pretty much have no qualms about wearing them.
But, to be frank, I'm not sure I really want to wear a cap or shirt that says The 40-Year Old Virgin.
Finally, for those folks who have heard me rave about The Woods, the latest Sleater-Kinney album, you can download the song Entertain from their website, and also nab the video (20 MB quicktime). "Entertain" (and the entire album, actually) won't be everyone's cup of tea, as it's cacophonous and angry, even by S-K standards, but I'm obsessed with it, much in the way I was with Green Day's American Idiot last year, playing it multiple times a day. Their website has other free MP3s from older albums, including Words and Guitar and You're No Rock 'n' Roll Fun, which are two of my other favorite S-K songs ("Little Babies" is the only one of my top four not available for free from their site).
ETA: There's also the cameo by S-K singer Corin Tucker in Diesel Sweeties.
