A modest proposal:

1. Go to your favorite free e-greetings site.

2. Find a nice "Happy Holidays" card.

3. Send it to oreilly@foxnews.com.

Forward and repost as necessary.

Heh heh. I'm almost tempted to change the channel from Sky Two to Fox... (But I shan't, as they're airing two Buffy eps in a row. Oz just learned he was a werewolf.)

But I think I'll send him a card.

Maybe a Chanukah card with 'Happy Holidays'.

out, in particular, Wal-Mart and other retailers

because, as we all know, ONLY CHRSTIANS ARE ALLOWED IN THE WALMART.

Which is, by the way, not actually true! I, for one, go to Walmart with a lot of Muslims! Strange, but true!

I love Oill B'Reilly. My roommate and I used to watch him and laugh angry laughs. In fact, here's a new slogan for Fox News:

"You're Watching Fox News Channel: Just Try To Stifle Your Amazed Laughter"

Aww... what happened to Christmukah? Or is that a mating of Christmas, Chanukah, and Kawanza? And if so, why doesn't Yule get a spot at the table? ::giggle::
I'm not even from Austin, but thinking of sending this poo head a card.

I didn't see the show in question tho knowing what i do of that guy i can just imagine his rantings.

I did post an entry sort of related to the "holidays" issue.

But i still have to try and see both sides tho not the extremist positions, i can't identify with those mindsets

When they added "In God We Trust" to our coins and currency i was fully against it and i still am.

OTOH, how far fetched or absurd does reaction to this present issue become if publishers ever change the title of, say,
"The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" to "The Grinch Who Stole
the Holidays"
for fear of offending someone with no sense of give and take.

I know that's an extreme example but it "could" come to that until our whole culture becomes vanilla safe for everyone and monolithic in thought and speech.

I don't think most rational people are bothered by either saying or hearing "Happy Holidays": you're wishing the person health, safety, good cheer, and so on in this darkest, coldest part of the year. I have friends who celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah [did I spell that right?], or Yule; and some who have no religion and see it as a secular holiday where you try to be nice to your fellow human beings.

What most people fear is that it will turn into what you're saying, that we'll have "The Grinch Who Stole the Holiday." Or that children won't be able to go see Santa at the mall.

Related to this (and i always assume most people are capable of rational thought ;) i saw somewhere recently on tv a parody of pc xmas carols, both old religious and modern secular types where they subbed generic terms for every single religious or xmas related word or line. It *was* hilarious but a bit sad in an awkward sort of way.

Of course O'Reilly would have probably had a stroke on the spot listening to it
No sense of humour in that guy at all coupled with the indignant self righteous "i know what's best for everyone" attitude... bleah. Get enough of that crap from Bush and his smug phony power mad friends.

So whomever O'Reilly pays to answer his e-mail will have a bunch of e-cards from e-tards to delete. What's that going to prove?

Actually, a some of the e-card sites are really designed to collect email addresses for spammers. So you're also signing him up to get spammed.

Frankly, I think that's not such a bad idea. 8-)

But you're not signing him up to be spammed at all because he almost certainly does not check his public e-mail account. You're not affecting Bill O'Reilly at all. You're just making more work for some poor schmoe.

I don't know. Either Bill O'Reilly or FOX, I would imagine. Are you so offended by the idea of someone getting paid to do stuff for someone you disagree with? Seems kinda childish to me.

Not at all. Rather I am delighted at the idea of O'Reilly paying even more to the poor schmoe because it takes him longer to wade through more spam. With any luck, the schmoe will be enjoying overtime. I'm not sure what made you prefer this more negative explanation.
