As reported by Harlan Ellison (scroll to Friday, December 9 2005 8:52:8, since there's no direct link), Robert Sheckley died this morning. I can't use any superlatives for him that do his work justice.

*sigh*

Chalker at the beginning of the year, Sheckley at the end.

Wait, Jack Chalker died? I don't know how I missed that.

The man wrote some crap (Dancing Gods) and some good stuff (Quintara, early Well of Souls). Ah, now where will we turn for guaranteed shape-shifter sex?

Chalker died in February.

Personally, I adore the Dancing Gods books, because they took so many cliches and turned them on their asses (long before I discovered other books that did the same thing). But it's hard not to attach sentiment to books one reads as a teen.
