Jason's back!

There's a new Friday the 13th movie on the way!

I'm not sure how much we need a script about his "origins," as the first movie kinda showed them, but I'm still excited.

That said, there are two things that would put the movie on my shitlist site unseen: 1. Giving Jason a fear of water again (my disdain for that element of the last movie can't be understated); and 2. Making it PG-13.

And didn't Jason Goes to Hell capitalize on that origin story as well? COmplete with the book of the dead from teh evil dead movies?

True, although there's much debate on how canon JGtH really is.

I've never been a superfan of either franchise (I'm one of those put-upon "Halloween" nuts), but I enjoyed "Freddy v. Jason" a lot -- with Jason's added dimension (a fear, his nightmares, etc.) being the primary reason why. As a Friday-fan, I'd like to know what bugged you about it.

The problem with the water thing is that it contradicts everyhing we've ever seen about Jason before. He jumps out of the water at the end of part 1. He kills people in the water in parts 4 and 7. He swims all the way to fucking Manhatten in part 8. And that's not even mentioning the fact that he lurks around a lake and has no qualms about hopping onto a boat.

And that's not even getting into the idea of drugging Zombie Jason, which is a whole 'nother ball of wax.
