It shouldn't come as a suprise, that obsessive patriotism so common on slathering rightwing talkshow hosts is so often a cover up for something (like limbaugh's drug addiction) why should it be any difffernt for super hero's?

Cap's tended to shy away from being blinded by the right (that's more something up USAgent's alley); during the '70s, he went through a major period of being disillusioned with the government, and it's been an undercurrent of his ever since.

Think of the ludicrously stupid WInter Solider crap they're doing with Bucky. How else to explain it other than as Bucky seeking revenge for Cap's excessive interest in him back in WWII (okay, so bad writing and editing explains it better, but this is almost as good).
