Yet another SMRT-TV episode!
May. 8th, 2006 02:23 pmYes, it's yet another SMRT-TV, including my latest Zoinks! column, a look at some recent good ideas and bad ideas in animation (and a tribute to one of my favorite Animaniacs filler bits). I'll let
lizlet, as always, speak for the issue as a whole (although I'll note that Michael Adams and I are most definitely not on the same page about his ideal fall schedule -- anyone calling for the end of Veronica Mars is definitely someone playing too much to ratings and too little to quality):
You know what's awesome? This new episode of SMRT-TV! It's so awesome
that it's a little LONGER. Shocking!
In FEATURES, M. Brianna Stallings profiles the ten pilots she thinks
will soar next season. Vicki Karigiannis considers the future of
GILMORE GIRLS after Amy Sherman-Palladino's departure. And Liz Ball
says goodbye to the fading-away ALIAS and THE WEST WING.
In TV ON DVD, Mike Celestino leaps back to a simpler time in TV
sci-fi: the QUANTUM LEAP years.
In COLUMNS, Andreanna Ditton has a modest proposal for the future of
crime TV (hint: it involves the future). Michael Adams plays fantasy
TV programmer and creates his own Fall 2006 schedule. CJ Quinn marvels
at how a pop music has-been could become the acclaimed companion of
DOCTOR WHO. Jill Weinberger contemplates whether men and women can
ever be friends -- on TV, at least. And Adam Lipkin's got the lowdown
on animated TV's latest Good Idea/Bad Ideas.
All this, plus, hey, come by the site all week! D. Roberts Keenan has
been rocking the front page's CHANNEL FLIPPING section, with daily
updates on what's worth watching tonight. This week's theme: stunt TV!
It's a great episode, with tons of room for discussion. So come on by
the forums!
Best,
Liz Shannon Miller

Date: 2006-05-08 06:42 pm (UTC)Agree with everything you said, except The Batman! stuff. I just don't find it to my taste.
I'll be sad to see the JLU and Teen Titans go the way of all things, while crap like Loonatics lives on.
