Kingdom of Loathing: I killed the NS and managed to get to level 12 today (thus nabbing Double-fisted Skull-Smashing as my next permed skill). I'm finishing up stuff I need to do pre-ascension (disassembling the meatcar, etc), and will ascend as a Disco Bandit (with full intentions of nabbing and perming my second level 15 skill).

Kingdom Hearts 2: Finished the second Agrabah quest last night (which was a breeze, especially this late in the game). Still loving it.

I have officially decided that I suck at KoL -- I can't even figure out how to kill the Goblin King. I know to do the Dress Up Like a Harem Girl thing, but then he keeps killing me before I even hit him; am I just not powerful enough yet, don't have the right weapons, what??

This is why I don't play video games!!

One of the things I've found is that most of the bosses really are tougher than their levels. One thing to remember is that you can set aside a quest and just focus on leveling up for a while.

My main is just about ready to take on the NS for the first time. I've just got to get my goat, Gnippsy, up to 20lbs so that I can pass her 2nd familiar...

The familiar leveling drives me nuts. Fortunately, after a few ascensions, it's a lot easier.

I think you will really enjoy the Double Smashing as a perm.

Of course, I'm going in with an Ice Sickle and a TPS. About as odd a combo as one gets, but I'm out of pulls.

I'm about half-way through 11th level SC and have gotten past the familiars. I'm waiting to get to 12 and get Double-Fisted and try the NS that way for a change. I'll probably take it permanent too, as I've already made one of each whip (so I don't need to take super meatsmithing with me) and I don't see any others that seem like a better bet for perm.

I took Tongue of the Walrus during my very first SC ascension (which was back at the beginning, when there was no such thing as ascension strategy). Since then, I took Northern Exposure and Double-Fisted. All three have come in very handy (Northern Exposure ensures easy Peak farming, and Tongue gets rid of Beaten Up, making it much handier than I realized at first).

My next few SC runs, though, will be focused on getting the LTS synergy skills.

as a single skill DFS is the best

then the Lunging thrust smack, Eye of the Stoat, and thrust smack, but you really need them incombination

*nod* That's the frustration -- there's no instant gratification until at least the second SC ascension for that group.

Still, long-term, it's worth it.

I had such a hard time on the second Agrabah quest because I couldn't figure out the key thing with the colors and the magic. I had to actually look at the walkthru and then I felt stupid. It's the only thing I used the walkthru for though.

Well, except that after I finished the game, I realized I had completely missed the Lion King world. Interesting to know you can finish the game without going there.

I had an even more annoying problem -- I knew exactly what to do, but the third (the red) key wasn't responding. It turned out to only work from inside the ring, for some reason. I spent literally half an hour on it, and got driven nearly mad.

(And no worries on spoilers).
