Friday things
Jun. 2nd, 2006 10:43 am1. Because it's been a while since I've pimped it, I just want to remind everyone about the oh-so-nifty PaperbackSwap. Basically, you list paperbacks you want to get rid of, and ship 'em to people who request them (at your expense, but by media mail), and you get three credits to request books from the site (completely free -- no cover charge or anything). Each book you ship out nets you another credit. I just got a copy of Robert Charles Wilson's Bios (um, sorry,
pnh) from them, and have also snagged a number of out-of-print Bill Pronzini novels there. If you sign up, feel free to use "yendi" as a referrer. Or feel free not to. Either way, it's definitely worth joining.
2. KOL update: I really fucked up my ascension -- for some reason, I thought that cherry TPS drinks were the ones for a moxie run. I only had one jumbo olive in my storage, which means that I've wasted two days of potentially really good drinks already. I did manage to hit level seven today, but I should have been at level 8.
2.5. I haven't bought the new KOL item of the month. It does look nifty, but I want to give it some time to see if the new content is really that worthwhile.
3. Amazon has a slightly odd DVD sale on Fox Movies and their sequels, not counting anything directed by George Lucas. Everything is 50% off, meaning that most series (Home Alone, Speed, Planet of the Apes, Die Hard) weigh in at $7.47 each, while a few (X-Men) are $9.97, and The Omen (sequels only) and Cocoon movies are $4.97 a pop.
4. Kingdom Hearts 2 has come close to causing me to hate The Little Mermaid. Much as I want Jodi Benson to keep earning paychecks, this part of the game blows. I do get a kick out of seeing Sora in his merman form, and wondering if his first reaction was, "hey, where'd my penis go?"
5. Metsville is gone. :-( Granted, I read Metsblog more, but it still saddens me.

This is the second familar I have purchased, because I am a KOL whore and cannot turn down new content.
That said I'm in HC and so won't be getting to play with it for at least a week.
So, I'll let you know then if you should buy it.
