Frank Miller directing The Spirit

Frank Miller is going to direct a movie based on The Spirit.

I can only hope that he shows as much reverence for and understanding of the character as he's shown for Batman.

I might give him the benefit of the doubt. But I'd be shocked if he pulls it off well. Even Miller at his best was no Eisner.

If there's one word that I would use to describe Frank Miller's career, it's "uneven", and I would feel better about this if Will Eisner were still alive.

That being said, if Miller is having one of his good days, that movie is going to kick.

I'm nowhere near being a Frank Miller fan, but in my opinion Frank Miller was never uncritically reverent of the character, even when he and Janson did The Dark Knight Returns. Which isn't the same as saying he outright dislikes the character, but I think in some ways the 'disrespect' he shows in All-Star is strangely (somewhat) consistent with every other Bat-work he's done before.
