Stephen Colbert on Ralph Reed. (link goes to a quicktime movie).

And yes, I voted in the Republican primary last week to keep Reed off the November ballot. I don't even want that scumbag (or anyone associated with the "Christian" Coalition, a group of people who wouldn't know the final three Commandments if the Commandments bit them on their asses) landing in office.

"He's like Tinkerbell"

Colbert is brilliant. That whole clip is brilliant.

I took on that strategy too. I voted in the 2000 primaries against Bush, fat lot of good that did. This past election cycle I again voted Repub to vote against Jean Schmidt and Ken Blackwell. Again, fat lot of good it did.

At least Reed didn't make it out of the primaries - so go you! :)

You can vote in a parties primary that you're not registered with?

In Georgia you can. That's how the Republicans got Cynthia McKinney voted out in the primaries of 2002.

While that sounds like a good idea for subversion... I don't think I like it.

The 2000 Presidential primaries happened only a few months after I turned 18 - so the very FIRST time I voted was in the Republican primary to vote against Bush.

And then I got all kinds of mail from the Republican party until I voted against him again that fall.

Actually I'm also thinking of voting in the Repub primary. My current representative seems to be a moderate guy - the opponent sent out a flyer bragging about how he's got the whole checklist of reason I don't vote Republican covered, and is running ads about how the incumbent is Just Too Liberal. The Democratic party is pretty much not having a primary this year, and the Dem candidate for Congress is almost guaranteed to lose in my district (sigh), so the Repub primary is where it's all going to be decided.

The thought of Mr. Proud Christian Pro-Life Gay Hater representing me in Congress scares me silly.

Voting in the other primary is one thing. Apparently Joseph Lieberman is actually RUNNING in the Democratic primary. I think he may be the only person in the country that hasn't figured out his party affiliation.
