More on the AP "coverage" of the Ken Jennings Jeopargate incident.

Because this really is the stupid that never ends (it just goes on and on, my friend), check out Joel Keller's attempts to get an answer from the Associated Press on their "coverage" of the now-infamous Ken Jennings blog entry.

Sadly, the AP now looks even dumber and more asinine than ever (their "correction" starts off with Ken "tempering" his comments, as if he was backtracking).

And, although I might have had some sympathy for Entertainment "Editor" Jesse Washington before now (anyone can get fooled once by a lazy or misleading reporter once, and fact checkers, seeing that the quotes were technically accurate, could well have missed the tone of the piece), his comments here (as well as the "correction" he had a hand in) make me question how, exactly, he's qualified for his job.

Dude... every paper picked it up and somehow not a single writer seemed to get it was aujoke and took Jennings' insults as fact.

To be somewhat fair, most of the papers that picked it up simply ran with the AP story. I'm sure that if more than two reporters had covered it, someone without an impaired sense of irony would have figured things out.
