Aug. 17th, 2006 07:37 amThe last four shortstops to hit three home runs in one ball game were Jose Reyes (two days ago), Jose Valentin (July, 2003), Chris Woodward (August, 2002), and Alex Rodriguez (also August, 2002).
All four of them are now members of New York teams, but only Reyes still plays shortstop for one of those teams.
(trivia ganked from Marty Noble)
I'm posting this because Reyes has provided all of the offense for the Mets over the first three games of the pathetic series against the Phillies, and I need to focus on the positives. Frankly, I'd really prefer not to see the Mets do their best imitation of the 1978 Red Sox (speaking of shortstops and home runs).
