KOL: Hardcore thoughts.

yendiIn ten days, I've made it to level 8. The last time I spent ten or more days on a run was over ten ascensions ago, when I was grabbing a level 15 skill. Last time it took me ten days for a level-11 ascension was twenty ascensions ago.
Yeah, this is different.
And I know that it's only going to get tougher. I still can't even clear out the Cyrpt, let alone deal with the pirates or any of the level 8 quests, so I'm basically just trying to fight and build stats. I've never appreciated the level-one skills before hardcore -- adding two points to strength is not bad at all when you don't have easy access to potions or buffs.
My biggest worry so far is that I didn't get a "W" before finishing the level six quest. I suspect I'll have to spend some serious back-farming time there later. Better than having to back-farm for pixels, I suppose.
I've only managed to get drunk once, and food-wise, I've had to do my share of visits to Canadia.
I really, really appreciate my snowcone summoning skill.
Oh, and I've learned to appreciate autoselling things. Even cheap crap. Man, do you stay broke in hc.
Current stats: 55/45/43 normal, 70/46/52 with current buffs and equipment (but that "46" is misleading, as I sampled my bang potions and discovered that one brought Strange Mental Acuity and the other Confusion :-/).
Current equipment: Crown of the Goblin King, spiked femur, defective skull, Boss Bat Britches, big red clown nose, shiny ring, white collar.
Current Skills: Seal Clubbing Frenzy, Hide of the Otter, Claws of the Otter, Summon Snowcone, Summon Hilarious Objects, Liver of Steel. I could afford Thrust Smack if I spent all my meat, but until I can also afford Eye of the Stoat (in other words, until I have the dictionary), that seems pointless.

I guess part of my reason for staying away from softcore right now is that I don't have the meat for all of those wonderful items that make them quick so I might as well get the rewards from a hardcore run since either way it would take just as long for me.
