Dave's own account of the Salt Lake reading (http://davesim.blogspot.com/2006/10/dave-sims-blogandmail-live-from-salt_30.html). He doesn't mention Ken at all, preferring to rant about secular humanists. Sigh.

dude = batshit.
seriously.
'cerebus' was absolutely brilliant in the beginning (and, argualby, in the end as well) but the guy is so fucking beyond crazy it's ridiculous.
(and he's a bit scary, too.)

Well, of course you would say that since you're a willing accomplice in the Feminist/Homosexualist Axis and you watch abortion porn while making sure men don't get jobs. Or something.

His brand of crazy does make the final leg of Cerebus interesting in that Lovecraft 'whoa, this guy is out where the buses don't go' way.

hpl's nuttiness is a bit easier to swallow, though.
a hefty does of it was simply affect in attempt to reclaim his beloved 18th century coupled with an overly sheltered and repressed upbringing, and he did take a remarkable turn toward the left later in life (which is always overlooked, for some reason.)
sim, though, that's just pure straight pathological hate.

Yeah, I meant more how the crazy affects the fiction. If you look solely at Lovecraft's stories, you can tell this was not a mentally sound person. (Not that most writers are.) I mean, that's authentic delirium; you can't fake that, and that's why most Lovecraftian pastiches are pallid by comparison. Same thing with Poe. Sim's craziness informs his fiction in a similar way -- it's like looking at Max Crumb's drawings in Crumb -- you can just see where reason begins to slide into mania. I wasn't comparing Lovecraft's personal demons to Sim's, just the way said demons pop out in the work.

Yes, but do you understand that you're a feminist/homosexualist who's living in denial of the Truth of the Male Light and Female Void and therefore darned to heck? Or something?

It must be said, though, that it's not often you get to see the word, "harlotry" used in a sentence, however nonsensical.
