Tsui Hark will be directing The Eye 3.
I'm a bit surprised, as it doesn't seem like his sort of shtick (since this isn't a franchise that exactly calls for action sequences).
But I'm also intrigued, as Hark, when he's good, is capable of making my all-time favorite Jet Li film (apologies to fans of his more recent works).
On the other hand, he's given us movies that have paired Van Damme with Dennis Rodman and Rob Schneider. Both of which were somehow worse than I'd expected.
I'm also intrigued by the off-hand comment at the bottom of the article about two remakes of the original. I'd known about the Tom Cruise one, but I didn't know that New Line had one in the works as well.
In other Asian Horror news, I finally saw the original Dark Water, and was suitably unimpressed. It would have worked much better in a shorter medium, maybe as a part of an anthology movie (or on a show like Masters of Horror). I'm assuming that the American remake isn't much (if any) better.
Gozu, on the other hand, kicks ass. Mind you, it's very strange ass. But good.
