Yet another movie made by people who have never read the source material:

Not that there was ever any doubt here. It's written by Akiva Fucking Goldman, who is two Russell Crowe movies short of being the Uwe Boll of screenwriters. But this poster just confirms that neither Goldman nor director Fracis Lawrence has ever read the novel, or even seen the Simpsons parody.

Source material? You mean someone wrote a book about all these Will Smith movies?

Maybe it's a poster for 'I Am Legend: The Car Commercial,' like those BMW films.

Aaarrgh! Beat me to it, you did! *stabby glare*

Or...great minds think alike?

Even my usual attempted optimism about projects like this that take half of forever to get made (meaning at least other people in Hollywood have read the book) is going, "Dude, yeah, the advertising people can fuck up a movie eight ways to Sunday, but if that's the best the filmmakers can give them, then there could be trouble..." Ugh.

C'mon! It's the end of the world as we know it: SHOW it! THAT'd be enough of a tease!

I deny that there is anything redeeming about those Russell Crowe movies.

Oh I loved that novel--but I don't remember a CAR in it. I also remember the guy having BIG WOMEN issues. I wonder if they will keep that in the movie...Goody two-shoes will smith singlign out female vampires to 'experiment on'.

Ugh, this looks bad.

You know, I like Will Smith (well, sometimes, when he's good) but I think he's a terrible choice for I Am Legend. My personal choice for the role would be Robert Forster from Jackie Brown and, er, Alligator. He could pull off brooding, intelligent, paranoid vampire-killing badass very well.

Akiva Goldsman shouldn't be allowed near a typewriter. Now and forevermore.

Unless, of course, someone drops one on him from a great height.

Sometimes I think he must have had the shit scared out of him by an sf novel or a comic when he was a child, and is still trying to get even.

I'm not sure what sucks more (pun intended) - this or the impending Wizard D00d II Constantine II.

Gorge... rising...

Apparently not: the UK market has resurrected it according to the article I just read.

From Wikipedia:

I Am Legend is a 2007 science fiction film directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Will Smith. I Am Legend is based on Richard Matheson's novel of the same name, but the film will be closer to The Omega Man, an earlier film adaptation of the novel.[1] I Am Legend is set to be released on November 21, 2007.

It appears that they're already acknowledging that its not even close to being like the book.

Oy. I wanted to say "Well, Will Smith could probably be a good choice", but... this is going to suck regardless of casting, probably.
