A few Arisia notes for this weekend

1. If you think you have my cell phone number from last Arisia, you don't. I no longer own any phone with a 404 area code. Email me if you think you need my number.

1.5 That said, my current phone has voice mail that's completely unreliable, and coverage in con hotels isn't a sure thing, either. Basically, my cell phone serves primarily as a pocketwatch with bonus features. Email's the best way to touch base pre-con, and running into me in the hall is the best way at the con itself. Plus, I'm not exactly a fan of over-scheduling myself.

2. Panels I'll be on:

Friday, 7PM: If Harry Dies. . . (Explaining death in books to kids. I'll be the guy who pretends that kids aren't, you know, fucking morons, and that sugarcoating or avoiding books like Charlotte's Web is what idiots do).

Saturday, 10AM: Monster Films - 50 Years ago (Exactly what it sounds like.)

Saturday, 11AM: A Memorial to Dave Cockrum (Exactly what it sounds like, but my fellow panelists are much more qualified than I am, frankly, as they actually knew Dave. I was merely a fan.).

Sunday, 11AM: Gastronomic Fantasies (Discussion of wonderful food from fantasy lit. Think I'll mention Dzur?)


3. Other time commitments: Alas, 'song and I have conflicts for two panels (the two of her panels that I'm more interested in attending, actually -- seriously, if you can attend "Reshaping Grimm and Goose" with 'song and yuki_onna or "If Harry Dies. . . ," and you choose the latter, you're probably on crack). But other than trying to hit her other panels, I'm not concerned about my schedule much yet. I'll be spending much time in the gaming room, of course (last year, I think I played six new games), and at least some time at the Con Suite. I might attend the masquerade on Saturday if Elayna gets dragged involved in it again. Otherwise, I'll be around and about. And I do hope to see plenty of you there.

ETA: That said, I'll be arriving there late on Friday (since I have to work). Probably too late for either slipjig's birthday dinner or the Giant Icehouse Games demo.

Friday, 7PM: If Harry Dies. . . That sounds like it'll be interesting. I can't imagine anyone at a con such as Arisia arguing the "sugarcoating" POV, but you never know. I'd love to hear a recap of the discussion.

Alas, there will be no con of any sort for us this weekend due to the upcoming move, but I certainly hope to be there *next* year. (Note, I have been saying this about Arisia since 1995. *sigh*)
