So, how's the first Hardcore Oxygenerian run going?

After fourteen days, I'm at level 8 (barely -- made it with three turns to spare today). I'm learning to appreciate my NZPR (if only to earn me enough meat to avoid having to waste turns at the campground), and I'm learning to really appreciate how nice it was to get those extra turns from booze and food. My 41 turns a day (thanks to the watch I found) are it.

Familiar-wise, I've been alternating between the NZPR, the sombrero (and yes, I know a volleyball is more helpful, but my sombrero hasn't been down to level one in a year), and the sleazy gravy fairy. The addition of the pickpocket skill has been quite nice, as has the Annoying Pitchfork I nabbed pretty quickly.

That said, man, HCO can be frustrating.

I don't know if the turns spent hunting for components would make a meat maid or a pagoda worthwhile for your run...

I'm only into my second HC run, but my March Hare + dormouse is handy for extra turns too...

Honestly, probably not. I'm kind of regretting the turns I spent on nabbing the fairy gravy (so I could get the Fro Pick).

I didn't nab a March Hare (since I wasn't Hardcore at the time), but I can see how useful they'd be (although I still get too much value out of my NZPR to give him up).

Actually, considering that you can buy everything except the skull and brain from the general store, you really should have gotten one. If you've slain the bonerdagon, the clover adventure in the post-cyrpt cemetary yields a skull and a brain, so it's not too late.

Epic hats seem to be pretty much a waste of time in HC until the haiku dungeon gets updated (so that there are not 20 or so different haiku to go through), though.

Crap! It'd been so long that I'd forgotten what the Muscle signs had access to! I already have two Smart Skulls, so I just need the brain, which I'll nab tomorrow. Thanks!
