Pandemonium Books in Cambridge is in dire straits, financially. You can read about the troubles -- and, more importantly, how folks can help -- here. PB is a damned fine venue for readings, and a store in which I've been shopping for years. They've held readings by all sorts of nifty authors, including the wonderful reading/concert I posted about last December. I've spent lots of money there on books and games, and I'd like to continue to do so for years to come.

I'll note (for those who might be a tad cynical) that Pandemonium's troubles (like those of Atlanta's late and very lamented Oxford Books) owe themselves to some bad business moves as well as external forces, but I'll also note that the loss of a good bookstore hurts a community, period; the loss of a genre store is even more painful.

ETA: Just noticed the Boing Boing is linking to Pandemonium's post, which will likely get the word out better than dozens, or even hundreds, of Livejournalers could hope to.

I may have overlooked this but do they have a website where you can order books or whatnot from them? I would be more than happy to do what I can even if it is long distance.

Been buying books there for years as far back as when they had a diff name and moved three times in Harvard Sq. Problem now is, they were one bus ride away, now in Central Sq it's two long bus trips to get there (north to south Cambridge is tough to travel by MBTA unlike east to west)
They do have a website to order books

Harvard Sq is a dim shadow of its former self.
After the Yuppie real estate invasion of the 80's and 90's drove up the cost of rents, a dozen bookstores shut down :(
Not to mention all the other diverse exotic small stores.

There are now 5 empty storefronts between Bartleys Burgers and the Harvard Bookstore.....

I've already put in a pre-order for one of the shirts.

I wrote about Pandemonium Books here. Do you think I summed up the store's situation fairly?
