Save Pandemonium
Feb. 8th, 2007 08:57 amPandemonium Books in Cambridge is in dire straits, financially. You can read about the troubles -- and, more importantly, how folks can help -- here. PB is a damned fine venue for readings, and a store in which I've been shopping for years. They've held readings by all sorts of nifty authors, including the wonderful reading/concert I posted about last December. I've spent lots of money there on books and games, and I'd like to continue to do so for years to come.
I'll note (for those who might be a tad cynical) that Pandemonium's troubles (like those of Atlanta's late and very lamented Oxford Books) owe themselves to some bad business moves as well as external forces, but I'll also note that the loss of a good bookstore hurts a community, period; the loss of a genre store is even more painful.
ETA: Just noticed the Boing Boing is linking to Pandemonium's post, which will likely get the word out better than dozens, or even hundreds, of Livejournalers could hope to.
