The Geico Cavemen are getting an ABC sitcom pilot.

Others are horrified, but I figure it can't actually be any worse than "According to Jim."

You obviously never tried to watch "In Case of Emergancy". "According to Jim" is just bland nothing. Like ABC's old TGIF line-up. It doesn't actively suck goodness out of the universe...

ABC has like one decent sitcom (Knights of Prosperity) from the last 5 years or so, and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who watches it...

Actually, hearing about this made me feel better, since I have been seriously tempted to write fic about the cavemen.

Seriously, think about it. They're clearly intelligent, articulate, thoughtful -- and yet the culture they live in thinks nothing of holding their species/race up as a veritable symbol of stupidity. They are marginalized and mocked and then mocked again for saying "We're not just here for you to put down and feel superior to." If anything seems "wrong" about this idea to me, it's the idea of just treating it as a pure sitcom, with no message, just laugh track. It could make an excellent "dramedy", though.

Ever since they gave a sitcom to the "talking baby", I haven't been surprised by any shows that end up on my tv. If the pilot sells, I'll probably watch the first ep, maybe the second if it's good and then promptly forget about the whole thing.
