1. So did anyone not mentally channel Mark Slackmeyer when reading about the Libby decision? I know that [livejournal.com profile] kradical (over here) and [livejournal.com profile] tnh (over at Making Light) both did so explicitly, but Mark's rant was definitely going through my head the second I saw the report on CNN.com.

2. Meanwhile, there's the whole fired prosecutors scandal. Because heaven forbid the Republicans put up with any honest and ethical folks in their administration.

3. And even more annoying than anything Bush has done, our Tivo decided to stop recording 9PM shows House and Ace of Cakes at the zero-minute mark last night. What the fuck? Fortunately, the former gets rerun on USA next week, and the latter was a repeat anyway. But this had better be a fluke.

4, On the plus side, Kitchen Confidential is coming to DVD! Yay!

5. [livejournal.com profile] slipjig summarizes this past weekend quite nicely.

6. The in-laws get into town tomorrow, and Elayna's birthday party is this weekend. So if you thought things were insane last weekend, you ain't seen nothing yet (as folks named Bachman and Turner might say).

7. Finally, Rest in Peace, Steve Rogers. For what it's worth, the entire Marvel Universe has sucked collective ass for the last few years*, so you're probably better off in the afterlife hanging out with Black Goliath, Captain Stacy, and anyone else who might still be dead. If it's any comfort, no one believes you'll actually stay dead.

* Excluding those parts written by Peter David and Warren Ellis. And no, the DCU hasn't sucked any less, once you account for Shadowpact and LSH.

Our DVR occasionally will just hiccup and not record something, or stop recording it after a minute. It happens sufficiently rarely that I can't get too worked up about it. Just file it under shit happening and move on....

It did happen with Heroes once -- actually, that one was my fault, I forgot to set the DVR for it -- and I just bought the episode on iTunes for a buck the next day. *grin*

I refuse to read anything to do with the Civil War storyline. I remember a distant time when DC and Marvel were able to come out with decent stories and didnt have to rely on rebooting the universe or killing off half the characters
everytime they ran out of ideas.

p.s. Agreed on Peter and Warren. I'd also add Garth in there.

No worries. I just saw it on the front page of Yahoo, so you only accelerated my spoiler experience by about three hours.

Ace of Cakes rocks, but not as much as Dinner: Impossible.

I watch Food Network for Iron Chef America, Good Eats, Dinner: Impossible and Ace of Cakes.

Probably in that order.

Best part of Iron Chef America. The Ted and Jeffrey judgefights. Classic.

What?!?!?!

I'm pretty sure Ted and Jeffrey have some kind of secret love affair going on. They fight like they're married. :)

I believe the quote is,"Who hasn't been replaced by a LMD, once or twice?"

What is it that you don't like about current comics?

I've been enjoying Astonishing X-Men and I even liked Civil War. On the DC side, I'm enjoying Green Lantern and the first issue of the new Brave and the Bold was a hoot.

Have you checked the recording history on the TiVo to see why they didn't record?

Why am I picturing the "death" of the man currently known as U.S. Agent? Oh yes, because that was the last time a man in a Captain America uniform was "shot" by a "sniper".

Honestly, I'd rather he were dead. But I don't believe it for a moment.
